Iguassu Falls Travel Agent Expert

Iguacu Falls (Iguassu Falls) is one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world, located on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Comprising 275 individual waterfalls spread over nearly 2 miles (2.7 kilometers), Iguaçu Falls is larger and more majestic than Niagara Falls. The falls are set within the lush Iguaçu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and are part of the Iguaçu River, which flows from the Paraná Plateau. The surrounding tropical rainforest is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including colorful birds, exotic plants, and diverse fauna. Whether viewed from the Brazilian or Argentine side, the falls offer breathtaking panoramas and are an essential destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Top 5 Places to Visit at Iguaçu Falls:

  • Iguaçu Falls Viewing Platform (Brazilian Side) – The Brazilian side of the falls offers an incredible panoramic view of the entire waterfall system, with numerous viewing platforms that allow visitors to get up close to the falls. The walkways provide unobstructed views and the chance to experience the falls’ power and beauty from different angles.

  • Devil’s Throat (Garganta do Diabo) – The most famous and dramatic part of Iguaçu Falls, Devil’s Throat is a U-shaped cascade where the majority of the water from the falls plunges into the river below. The observation platform here provides an up-close, immersive experience as visitors stand right above the powerful roar and mist of the falls.

  • Iguaçu National Park (Brazilian Side) – This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to both the falls and a vast area of protected rainforest. The park is a great place to explore wildlife, take eco-tours, or enjoy nature walks. The park also features diverse trails that lead to some of the best viewpoints.

  • Iguazú National Park (Argentine Side) – The Argentine side of the falls provides a more immersive experience with trails that take visitors right to the foot of the falls. The circuit includes numerous walkways and catwalks through the jungle, offering different perspectives and up-close views of the waterfalls.

  • Bird Park (Parque das Aves) – Located near the Brazilian entrance to the falls, this bird sanctuary is home to over 1,300 species of birds, including toucans, parrots, and flamingos. It's a great place to experience the local wildlife and get a close look at the Amazonian species that live in the area.

10 Things to Do at Iguaçu Falls:

  • Take a Boat Ride to the Base of the Falls – Get an adrenaline rush by taking a boat tour that takes you up close to the base of Iguaçu Falls. You’ll get splashed by the mist and experience the sheer power of the waterfalls up close.

  • Walk the Trails in Iguaçu National Park (Brazil) – Explore the various trails in the Brazilian side of the park, such as the Lower Circuit and Upper Circuit, to get different views of the falls. These trails wind through the rainforest, providing a chance to see wildlife and take in breathtaking vistas of the falls.

  • Visit Devil’s Throat (Garganta do Diabo) – Stand on the observation platform at Devil’s Throat and marvel at the immense force of water crashing down into the gorge below. The roar of the water and the mist make this one of the most unforgettable spots in the park.

  • Take a Helicopter Ride Over the Falls – For a truly spectacular view of the falls, take a helicopter ride over Iguaçu Falls. This bird’s-eye perspective gives you a sense of the vastness of the falls and the surrounding rainforest.

  • Explore Iguazú National Park (Argentina) – The Argentine side of the falls offers a more intimate experience. Walk along catwalks and trails that bring you directly under the waterfalls for a close-up experience and panoramic views.

  • Visit the Bird Park (Parque das Aves) – Spend time at this sanctuary where you can see over 1,300 species of birds, some of which are native to the region. It’s an opportunity to experience the biodiversity of the Iguaçu region in a more interactive way.

  • Take a Guided Eco-Tour – To learn more about the flora, fauna, and history of the area, take a guided eco-tour of the national parks. Guides will share their knowledge of the ecosystem and the cultural significance of the falls.

  • Go on a Jungle Safari – A jeep safari through the Iguaçu National Park will allow you to explore the surrounding rainforest, with a chance to see wildlife, such as toucans, monkeys, and capybaras, in their natural habitat.

  • Visit the Itaipu Dam – Located about 20 miles from the falls, the Itaipu Dam is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world. You can take a tour of the dam to learn about its construction and operation, and see its massive power-generating turbines.

  • Enjoy the Sunset at the Falls – At the end of the day, head to one of the observation points to watch the sun set over the falls. The changing light creates a magical atmosphere, and it’s a perfect moment to reflect on the beauty of the area.

Iguaçu Falls is a place of immense natural beauty and power.

Another fabulous trip!
Rey has booked several domestic and international trips for me over the years. Each time the experience was fantastic. Rey is not only a knowledgeable and experienced travel agent, he is patient with groups and always provides stellar customer service. The resorts are always fabulous and his recommendations on what to do when we arrive at our destinations make my vacations more enjoyable. I’ve counted on Rey to book fabulous vacations for over 10 years and he always delivers the best. I’ve always enjoyed the individual attention and care Rey provides his clients. He understands the apprehension that comes along with trying new places and is thorough and accommodating as a result. He’s also great at making suggestions on future vacations and I’ve never been disappointed when I follow his suggestions. Rey will remain my travel confidante for many years to come. He’s the best, hands down!
