La Fortuna Waterfall offers one of the most beautiful scenery in Arenal. This amazing waterfall is the perfect place for visitors to swim, relax and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding rainforest. At the indicated time, you will be picked-up in a comfortable tourism vehicle and after a short 15 minutes ride, you will arrive at La Yolanda Stables. There, the professional guide will pick the right horse according to your experience and will bring you the safety equipment and recommendations that should be followed to enjoy this entertaining excursion. Afterwards, you will begin the horseback riding adventure for a total of 3.1 miles (approximately 45 minutes) along a beautiful countryside, passing through some pastures, cattle farms, agriculture fields and rainforests, beside an extraordinary view of the San Carlos Valley.
The entire route offers stunning views of the Arenal Volcano. As you get to the entrance of La Fortuna Waterfall, the horses will be left in a resting place to start the hike of 530 stairs through the forest in a deep canyon that will lead you into an impressive 230-foot-high waterfall. This natural wonder emerges from an emerald-colored jungle cliff into a natural pool where you can swim in the cold mountain waters for about one hour. However if you do not want to swim, you can enjoy at the riverside the scenic beauty of the natural surroundings and take some unforgettable pictures while hearing the sounds of nature. It is important to mention that La Fortuna Waterfall is administrated for an NGO called Adifort, a Development Association and the obtained funds brings support for local projects and activities of social interest. After visiting La Fortuna Waterfalls, you will ride horseback again to La Yolanda Stables to take the tourist vehicle that will return you to your selected hotel.
