Travel is more than just a pastime or a hobby for me; it is something that it is always on my mind. My passion and my life, travel is the activity to which I have devoted more hours than anything else. A mother, a wife, a travel agent, a travel in...

First Family Vacation

Taking our first family vacation will always hold a special place in our hearts. From our 13-month-old daughter’s first airplane ride to her first passport stamp, this trip marked a new chapter in our lives as parents. Here’s how it went:

The Excitement of Our First Family Vacation

When my husband announced that we were going to Puerto Vallarta for our family getaway, my mind was filled with a million questions. As a seasoned traveler, I was used to vacationing with friends or my husband, but traveling with a child was a whole new adventure.

Questions That Came to Mind:

  • Is she current on all her vaccines?

  • How will she behave on the plane?

  • How many bags can I pack for her?

  • What’s the best sunblock for her?

Preparing for the Flight: A Nervous Parent’s Checklist

As we boarded the plane (first, because we were traveling with a child), I couldn’t help but feel nervous. How would our daughter handle the 2.5-hour flight from Houston to Puerto Vallarta? I recalled how much I dreaded hearing a crying baby on a flight, and I didn’t want that to be us.

My Flight Preparation:

  • Snacks for our daughter

  • Two bottles of toddler formula

  • Her favorite baby doll

  • An iPad filled with BabyTV episodes

Luckily, my preparations worked! After enjoying the items I packed, she fell asleep for the rest of the flight. PERFECT! We even received compliments from fellow passengers about how well-behaved she was. Though I appreciated the praise, I felt empathy for the parents of the toddler twins on board, who had a more challenging flight.

The Perfect Family-Friendly Resort: Now Amber Puerto Vallarta

For our family stay, we chose Now Amber – an all-inclusive luxury resort that was just a 15-minute drive from the airport. While I was initially skeptical about how a family resort would compare to adult-only hotels, I was pleasantly surprised. Now Amber offered everything a family could want in a vacation spot, including:

  • Fine dining restaurants

  • Luxury rooms with all the amenities

  • Lounge pools and activities

  • Live entertainment

  • Exceptional customer service

The Right Room for Family Comfort

Our room was spacious and family-friendly. It included all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay, such as:

  • Cable TV with kid-friendly stations

  • A crib for Natalie to sleep and play in

  • Relaxing pools with a fantastic atmosphere

Though Natalie was too young for the kids’ club, I was able to relax by the pool with her. We napped under the umbrellas while enjoying the sounds of the ocean.

A Family Photoshoot: Capturing the Memories

One of the highlights of our vacation was scheduling a professional photoshoot to capture our special moments. I absolutely love and cherish these pictures — they’ll always remind me of our unforgettable family vacation.

The Lesson Learned: Luxurious Travel with Kids is Possible!

This trip taught me an important lesson: You can enjoy luxurious travel even with kids! Our first family vacation was the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and quality family time, and it set the bar high for future vacations.

Tips for Traveling with Kids:

  • Plan ahead with entertainment options for the flight.

  • Choose a family-friendly resort that offers both relaxation and fun for everyone.

  • Don’t forget to capture the memories with a photoshoot!

Looking for a stress-free vacation with kids? Puerto Vallarta is perfect choice!
